The best L 50mm lens for the price!

If you are looking for the best 50mm L lens at an affordable price, this is your choice. I have traveled the world with this lens, shooting in a variety of styles. Lately I've only been using this lens for portraiture. This lens offers excellent bokeh, clarity and depth of field for the price. Well worth buying and definitely one of my favorite lenses that has taken me from beginner to advanced photographer.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Expensive

Ideal lens for camera lenses

I've heard a lot of people love or hate this lens, I'm the one who loves it! It's as close to perfection as it gets. The f/1.2 focal length is simply stunning to really capture what your eye really sees. The clarity is amazing. I use manual focus more often on this lens, sometimes shooting at f/1.2, but it's to be expected and a lot more fun to find that perfect focus point that can make or break a photo. It's not as hard as some say, it's a lot objective, but worth it.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was number

some 50mm 1.2 Portrait Thoughts

If you vacillate between 35 and 50. 50 is good for a head/shoulder or two. If you're taking group shots of more than 4 people, you need 35. The awful truth = you need both. This lens tends to stay on your camera. It used to be 24-70 now 50 is the lens that stays on my 5d2. In low light, use spot focus and focus on focus and depth of field. Always focus on the eyes, not the cheeks. Both heads should be the same distance apart. Increase ISO to 1.4-1.8 for more depth of field and sharpness. I wasโ€ฆ

My favorite lens is L: Camera and Photo

My wife and I are professional wedding photographers and use Canon 5D Mark III and all lenses L. 50L was our first L and we've bought it since 24- 70L, 70-200 2.8IS, 85L and 100L Macro. 24-70 is a great workhorse but when 2.8 isn't enough we use 50. At 1.2 at about 3m the face you want to focus on is very sharp and the background has great bokeh. Very soft and not too much. Of course, the closer we get, the crazier 1.2 is going to be. Once when I focused on my son's face while he was sleepingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Very expensive

Fantastic lens good for lenses

This is a fantastic lens! I've had it since late 2012 and now I'm sure I'll write a review. There are many technical reviews, so I won't waste your time on technical aspects. I am telling you about my personal experience. This is officially my favorite lens. This is the lens I always keep on my camera body unless I need a different lens for something else. Super creamy bokeh - think you saw creamy? no What you think is creamy is not creamy. This lens makes the bokeh of other lenses a breezeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Great price

The best lens in my arsenal will no doubt also be the best in ours

Oh my god, where do I start? I had a Sigma 50mm 1.4, two Tamron SP 35mm and an 85mm 1.8, all built for high megapixel wars, but none other than the 85mm 1.2L will give you rendering, bokeh , 3D look, the beautiful L color of the lens and the transition from bokeh to sharpness, the amount of light you can capture with this lens is excellent. It may not be as sharp wide open, but it still makes the images look nicer, has a more special feel than any other lens I've had. The autofocus isโ€ฆ
