Review on 📸 Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L USM Lens: Exceptional Quality for Canon DSLR Cameras - Fixed Lens by Jeremy Keller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

some 50mm 1.2 Portrait Thoughts

If you vacillate between 35 and 50. 50 is good for a head/shoulder or two. If you're taking group shots of more than 4 people, you need 35. The awful truth = you need both. This lens tends to stay on your camera. It used to be 24-70 now 50 is the lens that stays on my 5d2. In low light, use spot focus and focus on focus and depth of field. Always focus on the eyes, not the cheeks. Both heads should be the same distance apart. Increase ISO to 1.4-1.8 for more depth of field and sharpness. I was doing pre-prom photos indoors on a rainy day the other day and tried switching to my 24-70 2.8 - the 2.8 wasn't fast enough (something like a 5x light reduction). Huge difference. Place your subject in a window and use the light from the window to highlight their face.
