I was surprised at how comfortable and breathable these socks were when I received them. They appear to be quite fat but seem to breathe fairly well. I'm not an avid hiker or climber, but they were great for my hikes and walks (less than 5 miles at a time). I decided to take a chance instead of buying much more expensive "tried and tested" brands like SmartWool and Darn Tough, and I'm glad I did because I don't really need a $20+ pair of socks for walking need. I do. I have a pair of Darn Toughs that I received as gifts and I'd say they're almost as good for my purposes (they don't have the Darn Toughs lifetime guarantee of course). Overall I'm happy with these. I even like the colors.
