Plastic is plastic, good for the kitchen and dining room

a gift and I really wanted to try it out. Unfortunately it leaks (yes I know, use more tape - I did and did and did). I got the leak to the point where it was just wet all over so I continued. The actual fermentation worked well enough and the drip tray was great. The handle (to turn the valve and open the buildable ball) was an issue for me as it didn't feel particularly sturdy. Sure enough, after my first batch, I twisted the valve to flush the system and some seasoning made it stick and the red button popped off immediately. So now I have a plastic cone fermenter that is not 100% leakproof and has a broken handle. If you're new to brewing and want to have fun, this is probably fine, but as you progress and gain more brewing experience, I think this fermenter is probably more stress than convenience. I am planning to switch to a stainless steel membrane. More money, but the older I get, the more I've found that it's better to spend a few bucks more up front and avoid constant headaches later.
