Review on 1 TB USB 3.0 Portable External 💾 Hard Drive by LaCie Porsche Design P'9220 (302000) by Nick Granner

I've had it for about a week. I wanted something to back up all my files, music, etc. My TB was the right size. The price was right too. Also, I have used other Lacie storage products in the past with good results. It comes with built-in Genie Backup software, but I don't use it. I never trust automatic backup software on physical external drives - too many errors and error stories. If you're looking for automatic Time Machine backups, stick with the cloud (like Carbonite, Dropbox, etc.). Don't use this as your only backup, especially if you run a business. This drive is not for that. Think of it as part of a backup strategy that includes the cloud. It will NOT REPLACE the cloud. It's pretty fast. Not like an internal C drive, but not as bad. I copied a 6.56GB file from my C drive to the Lacie Porsche Design drive in 5 minutes and 15 seconds. It has a beautiful brushed aluminum design that looks like it was cut from a block of solid aluminum. It's small and portable; You can simply deposit it in a safe or bank deposit box. I suggest you attach velcro strips to the bottom of this unit and velcro to your car.
