Single lever shower valves only regulate the temp. They do not control the flow. General. I wasn't aware of this when I remodeled my bathroom 5 years ago. I was frustrated with the extremely low flow rate but didn't know what to do to fix it. The Kohler hand held shower head should be 2.5 GPM. I finally tested it last week. A pathetic 1.5 gallons per minute! No wonder my shower took so long! I removed the serrated metal ring and flow restrictor cartridge from the shower handle. Got 2.5 GPM straight away. After 5 years of disappointingly low water pressure, 2.5 seems great but too high. Since there is still no way to adjust the water pressure I bought this amazing little valve. Ideal! Full pressure for rinsing and less pressure for lathering. (My PDA is already heavy so I plugged it into the outlet.) Love love this valve.
