The tabs are broken - but it works

The product arrived. I asked for a refund as it arrived broken. The small tabs holding the two filters together at the top and bottom were broken. The plastic is cheap, I broke off two tabs on the ends of the filters - the tabs that pulled the filters out of the groove when replacing them. I found these tabs prevented the door from closing after installation, so I broke them with little effort. On my 2001 I lowered the glove box by disconnecting the wire on the right side and then removing the four screws that hold the panel in place. I had to remove the side molding in the far right hand corner next to the door gap as it will, a screw below comes out and then you just pull or rip the piece to the side and it pops out. This will open the entire door covering the filter. You don't need a split filter (two pieces) like I ordered. I could order a solid piece and it would slide fine. As I mentioned I was going to return it but decided to drop the glove box and have a look and found that once the two piece filter is in place it doesn't really need a pull tab, it won't go anywhere Once two filters were put back in, that damn filter cap had to be put back on. It has a latch on a latch all the way down to the back, you don't see it but you feel it. In some of the videos I watched, it seemed like anyone could operate this latch and lid with ease. Not so in my case. It didn't pop out right away and I couldn't pry it off with my gloved hand, so I managed to get a flathead screwdriver and pry it off. Then when I went to put it back in, it pretended to be locked and then jumped out. After several attempts, I finally resorted to gorilla tactics, grabbed the hammer and hammered the object in - luckily it didn't break. Order a single filter. All of this took me about 40 minutes. It would have only been about 30 minutes if that door, the lid, hadn't refused to come loose and then refused to open again. Oh and when I dropped my glove box I removed the back cover (squeeze it a bit on the sides and it pops out, after you remove the four corner screws and pry the cover off I didn't find the filter inside, just some dried leaves so I had to vacuum the trash Save a few bucks and do it yourself.
