Review on (Old Model) Seagate 500GB Desktop HDD Sata 6Gb/s 16MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST500DM002) - Reliable Data Storage Solution by Johnathan Delgado

Revainrating 5 out of 5

POSSIBLY the most infamous drive in hard drive history in the early 2010s.

This Seagate 3TB SATA hard drive is an infamous defective option that has flooded the market and really hurt Seagate as the worst hard drive manufacturer. My journey lasted 5 years until my sudden death. No warnings, just unresponsive. They had the highest error rate, e.g. B. 6X more than the competition and other Seagate drives (temporarily). Seagate has gotten better, but the cliche/word on the street still exists. People tend to recommend Hitachi (now owned by WD), Samsung, Rocket, then WD, then Seagate. Don't trust Adata or PNY, the scumbags in the SSD business and minor USB drive troubles like the Kingston scandal.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • No insurance
