Works very well with watercolor - Does take a little longer to dry

CANVAS TEXTUREThe first thing I noticed about this paper is that it really does have the look and feel of canvas. Iโ€™ve attached an extreme close-up photo of the paper so you can see the texture. The paper feels almost like a fine grain sandpaper. If you donโ€™t like textured paper, then this paper might not be right for you.PAPER IS THIN - DRIES SLOWLYWhen painting, I noticed that the paper can buckle a little because it is thin. This can easily be fixed when mounting the finished product. This paper really is like cloth, so it takes a little longer for it to dry. I found that I did some work and then set it aside for a while to dry. That actually works well for me because I paint in short stretches of time anyway.BE LIGHT HANDED WHEN SKETCHINGI noticed that it is difficult to erase sketching lines, so be light handed. Using my gum eraser, I was able erase ok, but it was best to just sketch as lightly as possible.REASONABLE PRICE POINTThis paper is a good buy. Thirty sheets of 9x12 normally runs about $25. I think that is a reasonable price.FINAL THOUGHTSIt took me a while to get used to this paper. In the end, I can say that I really like it. The texture adds a different dimension to watercolor. If you are uncertain about whether youโ€™ll like canvas paper, try a small amount at first. After all is said and done, you might be very pleasantly surprised!

Pros
  • The watercolor pads are suitable for all water-based paints, including watercolor, acrylic, gouache and ink
Cons
  • The canvas is too thin, allowing brush strokes to show through
