I bought a used barebones laptop from an online auction and it didn't have a hard drive. This is HP Elitebook 2540p. Inside, it has room for a 1.8-inch drive, which is pretty hard to find these days, as well as room for an optical drive, which this product ticks all the boxes. I had old SATA hard drives lying around that I wanted to reuse. I had to get the 9.5mm version and it was quite tight but it fit and after I finally got the hard drive in it twisted out after I reinstalled the adapter the second time as the first time the data connectors must have been incorrectly installed. .There is an area that sticks out and the installation isn't perfect and we'll have to see if it sits still or wobbles after normal use of the laptop. After sitting down I was able to boot from the HDD as Lubuntu was already on it and it ran fast so I booted from the Ubuntu USB and installed it on the HDD and it booted with no problems.
