We traded in a Honda Pilot with a second row bench seat for a new Pilot with separate 'Captain' chairs. We knew this would give our 55-pound border collie mix, who rides with us every day, less room and no place to lie down comfortably (unless he climbs on his back). I was looking for solutions and found this extension seat. Its length fits perfectly behind the front seat. Depending on the height of the seat, it is more or less snug in width, pointing downwards with its wedge shape and thus facilitating movement in the room. It sits a little higher than the captain's chair seat, but I have a non-slip mat that I put on top of the extension and seat and it balances it out so our dog can lie down comfortably whenever he wants. We store towels, plastic bags and an extra bowl in it. If your dog is heavier, you can stuff him inside to give him more strength to bear the weight. It's strong enough for our dogs size and weight and we haven't had any problems with it since we bought it almost 4 months ago.
