I got this at the end of May and used direct heat to boil water as shown in the picture, I also put it on cold and it has always worked great time . But probably the fifth time I washed dishes, the jug cracked. He didn't find anything that could be causing this, so I'm inclined to think the glass had a weak spot and cracked after some use. It no longer holds liquid without leaking. He said it can be washed in the dishwasher but if you do I will be very careful when cleaning it.
