What a bummer with this pump. I was looking for a quality tire inflation option. But the front of the chuck doesn't work, I suspect the connector is designed to be threaded rather than clamped. It's hard to tell, but I think when you screw the chuck on, it re-tightens the nut on the presta valve to keep air out of the tube. My workaround for this was to use the Presta adapter for sanding and then use the side of the chuck for sanding. Finally it worked. Let me just say that the $65 pump should work right out of the box, regardless of the connector. I can spend half that amount on a cheap plastic version and it will work great. I think this pump is failing because of the cartridge design. While it does have some useful features like a release valve, the tolerances on the Presta side seem to be too tight for bolting. Also, another issue is the thread design itself. After you pressurize the tire, it takes many turns to remove the cartridge from the valve. This allows a lot of air to escape from the tire. So what are you doing? Refill and guess where you will be in terms of pressure when the cartridge is removed? A bit risky in my opinion. As you will see by reading reviews of this pump, many people like it and it works great for them, while others like me regret buying it. Maybe I just got a lemon. Who knows? You can also change the chuck to a clamp style, but that seems like a lot of fuss for such an expensive item. Much luck!
