Revainrating 5 out of 5

good camera Easy installation. The battery is not as good as the first generation. Doesn't work well in cold weather.

*Edit* I've upgraded my rating to 5 stars because I'm 99% satisfied with this camera and the battery life is due to using the camera in cooler temperatures than intended. I bought two first generation cameras (ZS-GX2S) in October 2020, so I will compare some results with my experiences with these cameras. Here's my honest review of this new camera: I bought two of these for home use. I was impressed with the first models I bought and expected the same or better performance. Topping up, in-app setup and installation were very easy. Like the first cameras. The image and video quality is the same. Audio works well - both recording and broadcasting via the intercom function. Sometimes the audio doesn't sync properly with the video - it could be a problem with my SD card, but it doesn't happen often. Motion detection works fairly well, but it's not consistent. Sometimes it is provoked by a small cat. Sometimes an adult launches it at different distances. I've toggled this on and off with the Human Motion setting and tried different sensitivities. The motion detector works pretty well for the most part. Just make sure your cameras are pointed somewhere that isn't too far away. In my example images, the FedEx truck does not start recording even with maximum sensitivity and disabled human detection. But the courier coming up the stairs starts recording. Battery Life - The batteries don't seem to be performing as well as the first cameras I bought. I bought and installed the first cameras in October. I charged them up and installed them on a rented lot. The temperature is now -14F and they still work. One has 55% battery life and the other (much more commonly used) has 23% battery life. These new cameras were charged and installed on November 28, 2020. As of today (December 29, 2020) both are out of order due to dead batteries. It should be noted that these newer cameras get much less "traffic" than rental cameras, and the settings are the same in terms of recording duration, sensitivity, and any other factor that can contribute to battery drain. Assuming the batteries have a higher capacity, I think they will drain faster because it takes more power to send a Wi-Fi signal. The app itself is a little cumbersome to use, and I wish it had a few extra features (like detection zones, playback speed control, and the ability to access it from a computer). Overall I'm still happy with the cameras. I'll hook up solar panels to it and see how much it improves battery life. In addition, IeGeek claims that these cameras are said not to work well in very cold temperatures. Bottom line, I would buy these cameras again, but with the solar panel.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
