When I only patched one side the tear came loose after the first shower. The gap, which I could use with a double-sided patch, remained intact. It's frustrating because they only give you three in one size. So if you have big tears/holes you need to order two packs. This is the first season for these patches, so I now have the only patch that has dip adhesive attached. There is a double-sided sticker on the other hole. I'll update in spring after winter to see if one or both don't work.
