I think you get what you pay for. It's not a bad thermometer, but if you need an instant temperature reading, this might not be for you. It slowly heats up the temperature of the meat. It's workable, even more so when you're running it under a hot faucet that's close to your desired temperature. Its temperature display is also good for checking the kettle grill temperature. I just stuck a probe into the vents (not the plastic part!) on the lid and it will read the temp, not a bad side use. It didn't break so I'll keep using it for floors.
