2011 Ram Evap Leak Fix

. showing something along the lines of an "evaporative system leak" which I thought was caused by a loose gas cap, replaced it and still got the DTC. So I gave up and accepted it as an annoying dodge thing I just have to live with. I actually saw this fix on the YouTube channel and thought this part was cheap enough to try. So far it's had a full tank and no error code has come up, so I'm happy. The old one had some kind of plastic thing inside that could slide from side to side on the track and just shake it and it would fly back and forth. This new one didn't, so I'm guessing my old one was just worn or broken. The other difference is that the o-ring on this one is different from the original, which is a good thing. The OEM o-ring has square edges while this was a typical rounded o-ring and the youtube channel said other aftermarket parts have the same o-ring as the OEM, this Dorman part is the only one with one normal O-ring That seals much better in my opinion. Installation was a pain, not much room to work unless your truck is on top. Mine has a 3" hub and that was still an issue. It's located inside (in the middle) of the truck, just in front of the axle at the top of the fuel tank. You don't need any tools unless the hose comes with the OEM part glued in place. , in this case just a flat head or something to loosen the hose, it just pops in there with no zip ties or anything, clockwise and pull. Once you get this part also remove the O- ring and let it sit for a few hours They decided to stretch the o-ring to secure it during storage.

Pros
  • Automotive and laboratory testing was conducted to ensure smooth operation of this part
Cons
