Antenna and cable are strong and well made as standard. The base is large enough when attached to a steel surface like a car, but I wouldn't trust it being mobile if the steel had a thicker coating than paint. My intended use is to boost the signal of a 1900MHz MiFi device. When the antenna is connected close to the device I don't see much difference in signal strength or SNR. An antenna is useful when signal strength is reduced inside a building or vehicle. This is also useful when you need to increase the height of the antenna and continue physical access to the device. When installed outside of a solid stone building, I measure an increase of 10-15 dBm. In a car the change is 5-7 dBm but sometimes I measured no change. At -110 dBm, that's the difference between an unusable device and a reasonably reliable device. I wish the cable was longer.
