Getting a cell phone in the mountains

My husband works as a fishing guide and drives to the mountains to go to a certain river where his customers like to fish. For years it had terrible cell phone reception, sometimes none at all. After installing this antenna, his cell phone reception improved significantly. Usually he has no problems. He is now a happy fishing guide!

  • Handy thing

From 1 to 4 bars! good for radio antennas

Went from 1 bar to 4 bar with it and smooth. I can't imagine driving in a truck or using my phone without this and Sleek. It's a 1-2 combination that can't be beat! FYI, we live in the Extreme Mountains of Montana, I always have a signal when 99% of the others don't. This is no exaggeration. NOBODY has a signal but me in my truck because of this antenna and the original Wilson slick.

  • Always liked
Cons
  • I'll be silent

10-12dB extra over stock Antenna

This antenna has lots of thin but strong and flexible cables that can be run to the back of my truck and to the roof. I've seen an average gain of 10-12dB over the standard Wilson antenna and maybe even more thanks to my excellent Sprint service. So far so good, and unless I see myself in areas where that won't work, I think everything here is set for a solid device.

  • Cool
Cons
  • Almost OK

Worked for a month before the cable fell apart

I used it with a Wilson amp. Worked great until the end of the cable fell off. I'll hold Wilson responsible for this. The booster gets so hot when I use it that it literally burns my fingers. I think it got so hot it eventually melted the cable connector and fell apart. I called Wilson, they said if they don't put a heatsink on top of the amp the only way to dissipate heat is through the cable jack.

Pros
  • Dual band and tri-mode: 800MHz and 1900MHz Analog and digital
Cons
  • Unreliable

Useful in certain circumstances

Antenna and cable are strong and well made as standard. The base is large enough when attached to a steel surface like a car, but I wouldn't trust it being mobile if the steel had a thicker coating than paint. My intended use is to boost the signal of a 1900MHz MiFi device. When the antenna is connected close to the device I don't see much difference in signal strength or SNR. An antenna is useful when signal strength is reduced inside a building or vehicle. This is also useful when you need to

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

does a GREAT job of pulling the signal

this does a GREAT JOB of pulling the signal. The Wilson Electronics 4G Data/Phone Booster has a small antenna suitable for areas where you are close to the tower but in a dead zone or no/low service area with line of sight to the tower (i.e. on level ground like Kansas or eastern Colorado) it does a good job of transmitting a signal, but when you're in a SERIOUS dead zone (like in the mountains or UNDERGROUND) this antenna does a great job of receiving the signal. I have it in a window in my…

Pros
  • A/V Accessory
Cons
  • Ugly Packaging

A great antenna for your home or car when positioned correctly. This is a grounded antenna. For those who don't have enough radio experience to understand what this means, it means that the antenna must be mounted on a flat metal object in order to radiate properly. This isn't usually a problem with magnetic antennas as they usually get stuck in the middle of the roof of your car or truck. But if you try to use this antenna at home without mounting it on a metal object, it won't work for you…

Pros
  • Radio Antennas
