Good mic when it works

Bought this last year but never got around to using it. Opened and tried to use it for the past few days the pickup was very low and when I boosted the level I got a lot of hissing. I have an Aputure A-Lav and used it for comparison, it works much better. I received this based on my experience with Aputure A-Lav as it is made by the same company now going under a different name. I was hopeful but ended up disappointed. I would have sent it back for a replacement if I had checked it when it was first delivered. I took it for granted that now that they have taken steps to provide better hardware it will work. I've used it with the Zoom H6 and it worked slightly better with the batteries removed and depending on how you placed the cable. Part of the problem appears to be with the fork. Playing with the cable can result in either too much noise or a decent sound, but it won't last long. The long cord was more than I needed. Let's hope they have better products this year. Update: The microphone works and sounds great. Sounds like a problem with the battery pack. It doesn't always turn green, I have to play with it to turn it on. It looks like it could be a wire or battery not making contact. It works as long as the cord is in a stable position and the light can be turned on. Let's play with it to see what's wrong.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Bad set
