Budget Manual Focus Lens

If you are new to Sony MILC and looking for a budget lens, please note that this is a manual focus lens. This is a very compact lens, well built and fits my a6000 camera body well. Product images show a lens hood, however it is not listed as part of the package and is not included in the package you will receive. It would be nice if it was included. For the price you pay, this lens will appeal to many. With the aperture wide open, the sharpness in the center is very good, but not so much in the corners. I see myself as a general touring lens when I feel like shooting everything in manual mode. I read a review that said this lens doesn't let much light through, but that wasn't my observation with the specimen I received. So keep in mind that there may be some sample variations. I have many older manual focus lenses (Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Pentax) as well as auto focus lenses (Sony, Nikon, Sigma). Canon FD lenses are my favorite lenses and the nFD 24mm stands out, a very sharp lens. Comparing the two, I find that the Canon is a bit sharper in the middle. At all apertures, the Pergear lens lets in more light than the Canon. Also, this Pergear lens is much lighter than Canon's adapter setup and about an inch shorter. I like the feel of the focus ring, very smooth and easy to focus with peak focus. However, the infinity focus marker is a bit off. A few things I don't like about this lens: The mount has a bit of play when mounted on the a6000 body. The aperture ring does not click into place. Because the lens is so compact, it's easy to accidentally change the aperture. Now I'm used to checking it every time before taking a picture. I wish the aperture ring was a little stiffer. Although I have a good set of autofocus lenses, I like shooting with manual focus lenses. I see myself taking pictures with this fun compact lens. It will definitely find a place in my travel bag. So if you are looking for an inexpensive wide-angle lens in good quality, I advise against buying it. It's hard to find a lens this good at its current price.
