I bought this with the intention of scanning all my other books. I trimmed the bindings before trying this but it just doesn't work. My Windows 10 VM sees the new USB device but doesn't apply the two drivers I installed twice. I want it to be a good decision. I visited the IRIS website several times before purchasing the Iriscan Desk 5 Pro.

It works. However, navigating through their website to register (required to get the software) and then providing them with additional information to get to the software download site is terrible. Ads pop up in the middle of filling out forms and the forms never fill out on my computer. I ended up having to use my husband's Mac to fill out forms, which allowed me to follow the download link, then the download manager told me it would take anywhere from two hours to over a day to download the…

Without good light control (ambient lighting) you tend to get highlights on paper that shimmer from reflected light. If I had to change the design, I would place the LEDs on retractable/retractable light panels that could be offset 30 degrees from the plane of the book being scanned. Image quality and alignment software were pretty good, but glare from the lighting causes problems getting good scans of drawings from printed journals or magazines.

I bought this for my husband's anniversary and he loves all the features. He has so many books in the house and now he can scan each page without bending the book. He can carry an entire book right on his phone. The investment was profitable.

I've had this for about 5 months now, I use it to scan items I sell online (mostly music books, sheet music), I have this bought mainly to speed up the scanning process with my flatbed scanner. I wish I had sent it back and gotten something better. Recessed lights don't work well enough. I had to add additional lighting with a temperature of around 5k to get good black and white scans. I really wanted to love this product with its great industrial design. I've also heard horrible things about CZUR scanners sending your hard drive contents back to China, so I was excited about the alternative. In the end I think it's pretty good, but get ready for a good cleanup to get usable results. The Iriscan Desk 5 Pro has gotten a bad rap in some reviews so I was wary of my purchase. I have a Fujitsu ScanSnap 500 ix500 which can scan incredibly fast but requires page splitting and cannot handle documents wider than 8.5 inches.
