It works but don't expect it to work well

It works. However, navigating through their website to register (required to get the software) and then providing them with additional information to get to the software download site is terrible. Ads pop up in the middle of filling out forms and the forms never fill out on my computer. I ended up having to use my husband's Mac to fill out forms, which allowed me to follow the download link, then the download manager told me it would take anywhere from two hours to over a day to download the software . Eventually I managed to send the final download site link to myself on my Windows computer and complete the download there. Also, good scanning requires MUCH more light than the scanner provides, and it's impossible to hold both sides of book pages to scan while pressing the scan button without another person pressing the button or method that I'm used to to put the button on the floor and press it with my thumb bones. Attempting to press the button with my pinky while holding a book resulted in a bad scan. Please note that automatic scheduled scanning does not work when scanning books, only when scanning documents, so someone has to press the button for each page. I convert out of copyright books to ebooks and was hoping this scanner would make it easier without destroying the book. I save the book but this method is not as easy as my old method. Also the recognition quality isn't as good as before, probably due to poor scanning due to lack of light (even after adding extra lighting), leaving me with more cleaning work to do. If you try to use their epub direct access feature, be prepared for MANY errors. Finally, there are bugs in the software. What's really annoying is that in maximized mode it tries to "hide" the left side of the program behind my taskbar. This may be because I'm using a UHD monitor with zoom to 250% because I have poor eyesight and keep the taskbar on the left side of the monitor, but other programs I work with don't have this problem. I'll keep it because it allows me to keep my rarer older books after the conversion, but I'm not very happy with the results.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything is great
