However, be careful. get lost.

I really wanted to love this product with its great industrial design. I've also heard horrible things about CZUR scanners sending your hard drive contents back to China, so I was excited about the alternative. In the end I think it's pretty good, but get ready for a good cleanup to get usable results. Luckily, the software that comes with it, while flawed, allows you to perform this cleanup quite effectively. I spent about 4 hours scanning the book. In an attempt to "hide your fingers", about 5% of the time, a large white (in black and white) or gray (in grayscale or color mode) is placed on the page, obscuring the text. As you can see from my uploaded images, sometimes the text doesn't cover up, but sometimes it does, even when your fingers are in the same position (you can see the thumbnail of the original image in the top right corner). can be fixed by going in and editing the image, but there are some bugs in the software. If you turn off "Hide fingers" you can fix a page, but now the program thinks that "Don't hide fingers" was the default and won't let you fix another page because you "Show fingers" can no longer choose. because he thinks he's chosen. (It sounds confusing, and it is, but once you're in the software you should be able to figure it out). In most cases, the solution is to simply remove the curve points (where the program tries to find the edge of the page) needed to trim the finger, and then select Don't Hide Finger. Editing a curve to draw the "outline" of a page is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. Some elements of the program are great, such as automatic page-turn detection. However, this also has bugs and sometimes snaps a photo before the countdown begins, causing the camera to click while your hands are still over the pages. Just try again and then delete the error page. You can see these errors appear on the thumbnails but there is no way to enlarge them so this often hides the text but you won't be able to distinguish from the thumbnail and you will have to see the images open it for preview, examine each page, and then correct the errors. I would like it to be smoother, but it might be too far from the AI bridge at the moment. Luckily, once you've fixed the error pages, you can get very good results and you don't usually need to rescan. The maximum resolution is 300 dpi. The black and white print looks eerily similar to the third generation photocopies I remember from college textbooks, but I find it more legible than the black and white or color scans, which I feel contain too much artifacting for my liking (still better as my friend). Honestly, CZUR scans). OCR is surprisingly good, even on choppy pages. Much better than the CZUR scan I got from a friend. Bottom Line: You can get results with it, but it's not exactly easy as the marketing materials claim. I hope Iris fixes the bugs and releases a new version in the future. In the end, this is a very nice elegant industrial design, but you understand that to get good results you need to spend some time.
