Review on Bosch 6036C HEPA Cabin Filter by Danny Poulin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worth the premium price

I read other reviews before purchasing this seemingly overpriced cabin air filter for my 2017 Kia Sportage. Initially, I wondered if it was worth paying 2-3 times what I'm used to for a cabin filter. Unfortunately, instead of finding out if it really outperforms the competition, I read reviews from several people who claimed it wasn't the right fit. I hesitated for a long time, but then decided to place an order. In the worst case, it doesn't fit and I have to send it back. We are pleased to announce that the 6036C filter is the correct filter for the 2017 Kia Sportage. If I had to guess, I'd say the wrong filter was sent to the people who encountered this. I guess it's also possible that they installed it incorrectly, but that seems unlikely as I found the installation a breeze (it took less than five minutes - thanks for the simple design, Kia). My old filter was exactly a year and a week old when I installed it and it was still remarkably clean. If not out of curiosity, I'd probably put the old one back for a few more months and keep this one on hand for later installation. However, I decided to move on and I'm glad I did. After the installation was complete, I took the car for a walk. Well, like I said, I've always opted for generic filters, which seem to be about the same quality as OEM filters, but sell for half or even 1/3 the price of this Bosch HEPA filter. In general, after changing the filter, I only notice a slightly higher air output. However, after installing this filter, I noticed the distinct "fresh air" smell. I've never driven a car and actually thought that the air coming through the vents smelled cleaner than the air when I'm standing in front of the car. This has changed with this filter. I have now noticed a slight decrease in airflow after installing the filter and as I said before I usually notice an increase in airflow after changing the cabin air filter. This is obviously because this filter captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, which is significantly better than a standard filter. I don't think the reduction in airflow is significant enough not to recommend this filter. My car was only comfortable for a few minutes on a 95 degree day, and the improvement in air quality was the kind of drastic change you sometimes see with a new set of tires that far outperform the cheap (but not cheap) junk is Most manufacturers rely on factory. I'm happy to settle for a slight reduction in airflow if it means breathing much cleaner air. Anyone who does not want to spend 2-3 times more than usual on a cabin filter will be fired. Yes, it's more expensive, but it's still less than half of what the mechanic will charge you for installing one of the generic or OEM filters that don't do the job as well as this one. Spend a little more on a part and save a lot on labor, then enjoy clean and healthy air in your car!
