Review on Fun And Educational Kids Cooking Activity Kit - Klutz 10 X 1.19 X 10 Inches by John Miranda

A colorful and well-designed cookbook for children.

I was really impressed with this Klutz cookbook. For the past couple of years, I have occasionally chosen Klutz toys for my granddaughter, who is now seven years old. Most of them have been hits, including this Kids Cooking book. The book is printed on thick glossy paper with colorful recipes that are very detailed, and realistic for kids. The first recipe my granddaughter wanted to try was the Real-Deal Lemonade, using the Meyer lemons from our garden. She has been slicing and squeezing citrus in our kitchen, with supervision, for some time now but never with a recipe. We followed the directions, letting her do the work with a little assistance. It turned out to be fresh, tangy and delicious. For the Pink Lemonade we just dropped the strawberries in the individual servings and muddled them. The recipe page also gives a short and practical prototype for setting up a lemonade stand. There is a good quality "rainbow whisk” included with the book which is just as good as any other whisk I have in my kitchen. Also included are stickers that match up with some of the recipes. For example, there are flags to decorate straws and a recipe sticker for gifting a homemade dry cocoa mix.The recipes cover the usual range from breakfast to dessert, all of them illustrated with photos and colorful diagrams, and most of them written across two pages. My only complaint is that the packaged whisk was glued onto the inside of the back cover, which sticks out about three inches. It makes the book a little awkward to use, and there is residue which can't be removed stuck to the cover.

Pros
  • Kitchen Toys
Cons
  • Can create a mess in the kitchen that may be difficult to clean up
