You are not. If you go into the description you will see that they are also described as being windproof and water resistant. I would say the top of the gloves are waterproof however they are not waterproof and most of the bottom of the glove is barely waterproof. In addition, when running in 45 degrees and rain (the climate here is from November to April), my hands immediately froze. So they don't really suit me. I gave them 3 stars because overall they were decent gloves and I was able to use them with my phone. Oh, and I'm not sure why everyone thought they were narrow - I bought the medium ones and they were still a tad big. I would use a chart for matching rather than ratings.
