While I'm not a big car fan and don't usually buy mods for my car, I was looking for ways to improve the fuel economy of my 2006 Honda Element. On the forums, after much groundwork and talking to mechanics, I finally decided to pull the trigger and put something on my car that was making claims of increased gas mileage based on what makes sense to me: science. What does this product do? Allow more air into the engine so there is more oxygen in the gas for the explosion. It creates an efficiency that I can see in my car after a week of driving it. I used an app called Torque to monitor various parameters of my engine with an obd2 adapter. On the way to work I saw an intake air temperature of about 91 degrees as the general operating temperature. I saw 19.1 mpg on an average 11 mile drive from my home to the office. (Heavy traffic.) With that air intake installed and no other modifications to my car, I'm seeing an average fuel economy of 21.7mpg and an intake air temperature of 75 degrees. My guess is that this temperature drop is due to the air intake's new location and no longer in the engine bay. I haven't driven my car on a long trip yet, but I know I've consistently clocked up around 340 miles. on the tank before the Friday gas warning light comes on. I will test the new distance and try to report my results. Again, I'm not a car enthusiast. I keep track of my car sensors and even add them with the Torque app so I can get a general idea of what I was dealing with before installing this device. Conclusion: I am pleased with the immediate improvement in fuel consumption. It's good. The "minus" though: there is a noticeable change in engine noise. I'm not particularly happy about it, but I'm not particularly dissatisfied with it either. That's it. Note: I don't find the sound offensive or loud. It's just different than before. Some people on the forums I've read liked it. Others, like me, took it lightly. With that in mind, I think this product will be worth it in the long run. I write down the amount of gas I use and find out when the product will pay for itself. Probably in a few months, towards the end of the year. It says it all if you plan on keeping your Element alive and well and you're also looking for ways to increase your fuel economy. So far this seems to be a possibility.
