The Dewalt DWA1789IR Step Drill works well in 1/2" and 3/4" holes. "Knockouts" or 1/2" Enlargement Knockouts in Steel & PVC Boxes & Crates. It can also make 3/8" holes in cabinets for small grommets for low voltage control wiring. The bit has a 1/4" hex shank that snaps into my impact driver, making it very convenient. My old Greenlee bit cost more than this Dewalt bit and could only be used with a standard chuck, which was quite cumbersome. This Dewalt drill will stand up to regular use and still feel sharp. 2" KO hole if you're not careful or use too much force on the drill, especially with PVC pull boxes where the material is thicker than the guide rings, but like everything else, with a bit of effort. In practice this will not be a problem anymore. If you put the chisel through you get a perfect 3/4" hole and KO. Overall the bit works well for my needs so I am very happy with it and will use it when needed buy again.
