My child (13 year old cat) had surgery to remove a sarcoma in the lower abdomen. This was his second such surgery and after he managed to remove the cone in the first two years I was looking for something that would make the recovery process less hellish. I bought this pen in 48x48x32 and it fits comfortably on his tray, food and water bowl and blankets. If we needed to give him medication or he started screaming for attention, we could climb in and sit next to him. I took the top off about the first week, after which he started trying to climb up. He's always been quite a lively boy, but he couldn't tip a feather or pierce it (not for lack of trying). We released him about a week and a half later and a little earlier so he wouldn't get too nervous, so I suspect success may vary. It was also very easy to clean. The mesh never caught on the seams, which was a concern for us. Overall this product has been a life saver and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get some sleep while also taking care of their cat post surgery.
