Uneven toasting on small appliances

This toaster is easy to use. I like the defrost function. The disappointment is that it browns unevenly (one side is larger than the other, one area on one side is larger than the other area on the same side). Now I'm considering taking the hassle out of going back to try another version of the same model, because aside from the uneven roast, we like the model). Will the company respond to this comment? Is that a common complaint about this toaster, or are we just unlucky with this one? Many Thanks.
