Review on Installation 400594 Tubing Outflow Side by Angela Smith

Bought this diverter kit with hoses to use in my 36 gallon bow front tank and the canister is Eheim too. It's a well-made product, but I have mixed feelings about it. First, all sections are connected via a groove and an O-ring that slides together. Sounds great, and for the most part it is. However, a new one with unlubricated o-rings will be terribly tight. Apply silicone grease and they spin at inhalation speed, which is way too easy. I love that they give you two elbows, I used both, see attached photo. For horizontal sections, the outlets are directed towards the front of the tank. On the short single vertical section, the outlets are turned to the left so the flow goes straight back to my heater. I have to hit a lot of bubbles for you to know what it is. I took a dry photo so you can see everything assembled in the package. The last photo shows my smokey pipe connected and mounted over the rim of the tank. This will show you how the hose is attached. Do you see the hat? It dripped a lot but didn't drip. I took it off and smeared it with silicone grease, plenty of it to act as a thread sealant and stop the leak. I had mixed thoughts installing it, but I have to say that I really love the fact that you can customize it the way you want. I like the counter nut a lot. And finally, it replaced the Eheim hose that simply kinked over the edge and went straight, factory supplied with a 4+ 350 canister. The orifice size in this hose was the perfect size to allow flow to flow at the perfect rate. This new wand appears to have smaller holes because the same current is leaking out at a much higher rate. I'll end up drilling them in a larger size if I have time next week. I rebored them (slightly) with a 3/16" drill bit and started using again. Now speed is required and I am very happy with it. The devil is in the details. lol
