Received this product and the classic 20 oz yesterday and tested it today. I used our Ninja coffee maker to make hot water at 190 degrees. I've never measured it, just knew it was hot. Both filled at 11 a.m. Did some errands and got back at 2pm. The classic had a temperature of 162 degrees, while this quad had 124 degrees. I filled up the Ninja for another run and simply emptied and filled the quad to make sure everything was very tight. At 4:30 p.m. I tested the classic, which reached 147 degrees in 5:30 hours, and the quad-core reached 127 degrees in just 2:15 hours. I ordered another quad to compare. Maybe I got a defective one. I expect the quad to perform much better than the classic based on the design. Technically, despite the temperature of 120 degrees, the drink remains hot and pleasant to drink. Perhaps the Quad is better at keeping hot drinks at the ideal temperature for longer. I couldn't find much information on the terms Stanley uses to say 9 o'clock is hot. Update::: got a new quad and much better. The former is definitely wrong. The outside gets very hot on the first one while the new one stays cool. Running the same tests again on all three failed quadcopters drops to 120 degrees in 2 hours just like before and the outside of the container gets hot. The classic and replacement quad hold the temperature very well and both are cool to the touch. The ATV stays 8-10 degrees hotter than the classic at all times. The Yeti is also included, and the 4 stayed at the same level or just a degree or two below the Yeti. Upgraded to 4. If I hadn't done this review before our 2 week trip I would have really hated this product. This had to be tested for heat retention before leaving production, so I've never received a very defective one.
