As a family dishwasher, these sponges are my go-to scrub pad for removing stubborn dirt from surfaces. (My wife cooks and I clean up afterward.) They are primarily for pots and pans used on the stovetop or in the oven. There may also be sticky cheese or something similar on a special plate. When I'm done cleaning the hard-to-reach areas, they can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher for most things, or crock-potted for large pots and pans. The great thing is that they can be reused for weeks or months and will not damage surfaces. I've used sponges with abrasive on one side a bit, but they're more prone to getting clogged with dirt.
