I bought this because I'm an older woman back in college. I need to sit in a comfortable place while studying. I also have to type a lot of materials, put in e-mails and documents, extensive notes from my teachers, as well as homework and essays. This means I had to sit with my laptop next to the printer and stuff this small space with my study materials, as well as walking back and forth to charge other devices I need for my studies like Kindle, iPad, phone. This eliminates the need to clutter the smaller area next to my printer and allows me to keep a charger or two handy as well as my study materials.
