This thing really works to cool an RV fridge. Without a fan, the refrigerator depends on airflow over the coils by convection. This works well in cooler weather, but in hot weather not enough air flows through the coils to prevent the fridge from overheating. I read somewhere that some RV manufacturers put fans on the fridge because of this problem. In any case, the quality is reasonable. When I unpacked the fan, the motor popped out of its bracket and I had a hard time putting the motor back in without damaging it. The motor and fan blades are very light and can be easily damaged if you are not careful. So I partially reattached it, just enough so I thought it would stay after gluing. Installation was relatively easy. I wanted it to be mounted on the roof fridge vent which meant I had to break the seal on the vent and remove the whole thing (2 parts). Then, instead of using metal brackets, I added two small pieces of wood and attached the fan housing to it. I have left room to add a second fan if I feel it will be needed in the future. So reinstall the vent and cap (you'll need the correct sealant and sealant) and hook it up to a 12v power supply. The fan has a thermostatic switch that turns on when the temperature reaches around 82 degrees. So I wanted to be able to turn the fan on manually when I wanted to, figured I might have to keep it running, and certainly didn't want to remove the whole thing just to add another hot wire to the fan. (as it turned out, the whole thing was not needed, everything worked without a thermostat). So I soldered an extra cable directly to the fan motor in front of the thermostat and routed both cables to the cold store. I then connected both to a 12V power supply to allow the fan to be operated thermostatically or manually (which I didn't have to do). This has really helped our van cooler stay cooler, these things never cool very well so they need all the help they can get. When the fan is running I can hear it in the van, but that's mostly because I know what it is and it's not loud. I think if I didn't know what it was I wouldn't notice it at all. In hindsight, I think I could have mounted the fan case on rubber grommets to further reduce the sound, but I don't think it's really necessary. I've heard of people installing a fan at the bottom of the freezer, but while it was a bit more difficult, I figured a top mount would move the air more efficiently. I was happy with the fridge upgrade and the installation wasn't that much of a problem, well worth it. I highly recommend this to improve the performance of any refrigerator on wheels.
