Review on ๐Ÿ’พ ORICO 40TB 4 Bay USB 3.0 to SATA I/II/III External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5/3.5 inch HDD/SSD with Duplicator/Cloner Function [4 x 10TB] by Brandon Whiteman

Any plan that expects high performance from an SDD device may need to be adjusted.

ORICO 4-Bay External Hard Drive Dock is the best you can find for sliced bread. It offers fast USB 3.0 access to 4 physical devices from my PC. A small problem can occur if the hard drives involved are partitioned. Windows 10 can get confused during mounting and users get confused when using it. A very well defined naming convention helps reduce this confusion. The duplicate/clone feature is a bonus. I haven't tested the clone function. I have tested many magnetic disk drives (HDD), but only one SSD. Testing a mounted SSD was both unexpected and disappointing. I found the read/write performance to be no better than a hard drive device. Testing and formatting again didn't change anything and I was worried about a new SDD device. However, once the SDD was installed on the intended target PC, performance was better than expected. Windows 10 reported that the values are more than double the values obtained in the ORICO dock. I don't have another SDD to further test the ORICO docking station, but my intent to use this device may need to change. The advertised transfer rate of 5 Gb/s can be physically broken down into 4 slots, leaving just over 1 Gb/s per slot. I like what I bought and I think it's a great value. I can't explain the limitations of the SDD drive.
