Read the instructions first. I had some minor issues, mainly with not being able to see the watch well. But I kept the online instructions closed for the first few rounds and figured it out. There is also a Shot Scope user group on Facebook which is very helpful and once when I needed technical help they were great (via Messenger). I learned a lot about my club distances. It's not perfect as sometimes it goes wrong and of course you have to add a penalty. I also want to be able to move it to exactly where the photo was taken when I add a snap. And if the watch were backlit, it would be almost perfect. Great value for what he does.
