They arrived today and I used them almost immediately. I used a marker to mark where I wanted the holes (to make sure they were even). I put an ice cube on my first ear but not my second because the pain was so minor I didn't think I really needed it. I did the piercing myself and it was very easy. There are no instructions, but they are not needed. It includes alcohol swabs to clean the ear before piercing. A tip: the device automatically puts the earring on the back, but it was only in a small groove and not quite. I flattened it more to make it look better (not sticking out the front of my ear). After that (when I googled how to clean/care for a fresh piercing) I found out to leave it loose for 6 weeks while it heals to allow more air to touch the piercing.
