I bought this for my daughter's bedroom. She and her brother had bunk beds with two single beds. He had now moved into his bedroom with a king-size bed, and she slept like a princess and a pea in a double bed with the mattresses folded. Now she is older and likes to spend the night with her friends. I used to just put mattresses on the floor, but I decided to buy new frames and give it a try. It has traditional innerspring mattresses with orthopedic pads. So the center seam is still visible, but the padding keeps body parts away from the mattress seam. It was fairly easy to assemble, the straps are long enough to definitely fit two Twin XL mattresses, maybe even one full and one double. The straps are very long. The bed frames I received were two single metal platform beds, without straps they would definitely separate but they held together well enough. This is a great solution to avoid buying a large mattress.
