Carpets are difficult to vacuum
This shaggy carpet is soft but fairly flat so not that soft. Easily moves on a ground on top of a tree. We've tried vacuuming it with both a handheld vacuum and a canister vacuum and the crumbs don't come up easily at all. This actually caused our vacuum to overheat and shut down because it was picking up strands of hair instead of crumbs. In the photo, I tried to show small grains of crumbs so deep in the carpet that the vacuum cleaner can't reach them. It just tilts. This isn't a cheap vacuum either.
