Review on Metra XSVI 1784 NAV Sprinter Rap Retention by Joe Meyer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

2008 Dodge Sprinter RV

Installed in a 2010 Winnebago View (2008 Dodge Sprinter Chassis) with Home/Engine Battery Switch, the installation was the most "advanced" car stereo I've done to date. but in the end it worked out great. My Sprinter doesn't have a steering wheel remote control and therefore no CAN data bus line in the stereo wiring, that was the tricky part. There was a workaround mod I would never have figured out without Axxess' top notch support. Two calls to her office were answered immediately by a man who was experienced, helpful and very knowledgeable. What I learned from customer service is that not all sprinters have a CAN databus wire going into the stereo harness, which is necessary for the little box to work. Talk to the onboard computer and get your work done. You can check if you have one by looking at your Sprinter's wiring harness. If there is a twisted pair cable going back to the firewall, it should be there and you can install it according to the instructions. This didn't happen in my case and the solution suggested to me by support was to run a new wire and connect it to the bus wire in the hazard switch. Kudos to Metra for taking on the Daimler tire and providing a solution for the Stereo aftermarket. My only criticism of this product is that updating the firmware on Windows 10 took several cycles of deleting USB device drivers and trying again, but it worked in the end. Oh, and make sure your butt connectors (hehe) match the flimsy wire! A crimping tool is a lifesaver here :)
