After several unsuccessful attempts I found that most Class 15 metal spools are quite poorly made, with very tight tolerances and very fine notches. These factors are totally unacceptable, at least for our Morse 4300, and we have found that only about 8 out of 100 are usable, and that's only if you only put the spool in the winder in one direction. The only brands we've found so far that offer quality reels are Bohin and Sewnote. It looks like Sewnote did a better job of electroplating their coils, and it looks like this happened after the notch was ground down. not after Bohin.
