Non-Standard Insert! I have donut shaped flat rare earth magnets that just fit into these plugs. Drill a series of 25mm holes in the 1" x 2" board (slightly deeper than the height of the dowels) and cut the dowels into the board with the hole facing out. Screw magnets and dowels onto the plate and attach to the wall. This gives me a very durable, scratch-resistant (!) magnetic knife holder for my kitchen. I'll plug the hole with something (epoxy or thin contrast wood) and cover with cutting board oil/wax. Must be beautiful, functional, "right” sized and able to withstand most earthquakes.
