Review on Enhance Your Entertainment Experience with the Logitech Harmony 665 Advanced Remote Control by Jason Pinkney

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Better than I first thought.

New things I've discovered - if you're like me you've got multiple devices hooked up to your AV receiver so the AVR is used as a switch to control them. I was trying to create new activities using the AVR, the TV, and the device I want to watch, and I wanted to use the TV to control the volume and tone. I found that whenever the AVR was on, the 665 assumed you wanted to use it to adjust the volume, and there was no way to select the TV to do that. However, there is a pre-programmed action called WatchTV that by default uses the TV to control the volume. So you can create multiple WatchTV Activities and add whatever devices you want, including the AVR, and by default the TV will be used to control the volume. You can change the action name to better describe what you are using. So instead of WatchTV 4, you can change it to Watch Sony BluRay. Roku streaming sticks are not supported - sticks do not use IR control. May be compatible with older Roku devices like Roku 1 that use an IR remote control. The remote supports multiple actions, but you'll need to change power settings for devices you don't want to turn off when switching between them. At first I couldn't figure out how to switch to another activity after deciding on one. Harmony support was pretty quick to respond and let me know that the star button at the top of the remote gives access to actions. I could not find this information on the support site. So for now everything works fine except for the lack of support for new Roku devices, but that's a technology issue, not a Harmony bug. I've now raised my rating to 4 stars as I discover ways to make the remote more user-friendly.

Easy to program and will do anything you want, no matter how strange it is.
