Review on Wathai DC Brushless Cooling Fan: Powerful 40mm x 10mm 12V 3Pin Mini Heatsink Cooler Fans by John Ford

Must be different material

The fan was quiet and worked as expected. My main complaints are that although the mounting holes turned out to be exactly the same size as the fan I was replacing, the hole broke when I tried to use the included screws. I have noticed that the material the new fan housing is made of is different from the material I replaced. It looks more like hard plastic than soft. The screws are large and designed to screw into a hole. When I tried using the included hardware I found that the screw heads were too small. My solution was to drill mounting holes in the new fan, which allowed my existing screws to work. Another complaint is that the plug doesn't match the plug that needs to be plugged in. They look pretty similar but without a photo with dimensions it was impossible to tell. I was able to cut off the old connector and replace the one on the new fan with the correct splicing clips. As a technician, I had the tools to make all of these changes, but the average person might have ordered something different.
