Saving a Pattern

One of the best tips I've come across since I started sewing was to save the original pattern so you can use it again and again and track changes . did. One of the first methods I read about doing this was to combine the pattern pieces with the interface, but that only saves one size. I was worried that if I gain or lose weight, my patterns would become useless to me. Also what if I cut the wrong size? what happened to me Twice. I did a little more research, there are many different ways to save your templates and template tracking came up more often than other methods. This method has several advantages including preserving the original pattern with all sizes and repeats. Looking even more closely, I learned something about Swedish tracing paper. Swedish tracing paper is a mix of tracing paper and fabric and is a bit like what I imagine the finest felt feels like. The paper can be sewn and is therefore suitable for adjusting corsages or adjusting darts. It is transparent enough to be traced when placed over a drawing. I ordered my first roll of Swedish tracing paper 2 years ago and had great expectations and high hopes for this paper at the time, but had no idea how it worked or how long 10 meters would last! All my hopes and dreams have come true. true and this is my goto template save method. Although it takes a little time to trace every detail of the pattern, this exercise alone really helped me improve my sewing skills. The detailing of every notch, every crease, every jigsaw piece gave me an idea of how it would all fit together. Not only does the paper retain my original design, but the pattern pieces are much stronger and don't shift around as much. About 6 patterns can be traced on 10 yards of Swedish paper, making this method an affordable alternative to fixing. Happy sewing! DejaChic
