Review on AT&T SL82118 DECT 6.0 Cordless Telephone with Digital Answering System by Laura Pena

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great phone. no buffer battery!

The phone works great and works about 250 feet away. I also like that it has a blue backlight. Another good thing is that it comes pre-programmed with the option to select a computer greeting, which sounds cool if you don't want anyone to hear your own voice as the greeting. The volume controls work great and give you a good selection. The speakerphone is also good and works well. Anyone on the other end can hear you as if you were speaking directly into a headset. The headset also works perfectly, voices are clear, there are no buzzes and clicks. The safe frequencies it operates on are in the 800MHz digital band, so be aware of what you can eavesdrop on with a scanner. The only downside to this phone and the reason I gave it 4 stars is that it doesn't have a backup battery. I was very surprised! What cordless phone doesn't have a backup battery these days? This only becomes an issue when you have a power outage. In this case you have to reset the time and date, which is quite simple; However, this will not affect messages left on the phone's answering machine as the messages are stored digitally, but your greeting will be lost and you will have to reset it. If you have a caller ID, this does not affect the time and date of the call log. But I'm satisfied for the low price of $25 I paid. It was a good deal. I needed a phone with long range, good secure encryption and clear voice quality on calls and this phone ticks all the boxes.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
