I recently upgraded to Xfinity using their xFi in a router/modem combo. I noticed that MOCA devices are connected to external MAC addresses. I turned off MOCA not knowing how these devices would appear if the coax cable goes straight to the box (which means there are no active jacks in my house and no devices plugged into them) and lived happily knowing that I'll never use that special feature. I decided to add this filter just for SECURITY as I accidentally saw information about another router when trying to access my settings page. Yes. No bueno. Once I added that filter, all those strange MOCA devices were gone forever. Comcast/Xfinity should have installed this filter in the first place, but I found it easier to buy this filter for $5 and go about my business than spend hours explaining the problem. to their support team. Your technicians literally know less about the services they provide than they do about the people they are meant to help.
