This purchase was a bit of an impulse buy as I have a newer, higher quality Victorian cylinder that will get a lot of use over the next few months and will likely need a regular cleaning. When the brush arrived today I was surprised and a little dismayed when I opened the packaging and picked up the brush to find how rough and obviously unfinished the handle was. It was band sawed from a rough piece of oak plank and bristles were stuck into it, with little if any finish other than the hallmark printed on the top of the handle. Having used several military brushes and other brushes with wooden handles, I have never encountered such a poorly made handle. That being said I have the equipment and can sand and sand the pen to my satisfaction but it is sad to see someone care so little about the quality of the product they are selling to the public.
